Hey people, I know you just happened to stop by my blog just cause you're bored or because you just accidentally clicked on it, but can't you just spare a few minutes of your life to look at the lives of the people surrounding you? For example, ME.
Anyways, let's just recap on what's happened in the last two months. Well, I don't have a photographic memory, but I'll just focus on the main points.
A really sad thing is that I only got 10th place in the annual school spelling bee. Guess what, last year which is to say fifth grade I actually got the fifth place which is kind of ironic. Do you see the pattern? Last year I got the fifth place and this year I got tenth. Maybe next year I'll get 15th and maybe after that I'll get 20th, but for now, I'll just tell you how I failed and what I learned from my past experience.
The first thing and the most important thing I've learned from my past failures is to never overestimate yourself. Never think you have luck and maybe even god on your side.
This year I've failed at planning my strategy to crush my opponents, but I've ironically happened to just completely crush myself. You see, I knew the words pretty well, I could basically go rapid-fire on the words if I really wanted to. See, I just overestimated myself, and that's what got me out of the bee. I went too fast. Too fast for even me to handle. Like about 3 words per second. Maybe that doesn't sound like a lot to you, but you're welcome to try for yourself.
See, I thought if I went supersonic on saying the words, maybe my adversaries would have extra pressure on their shoulders that would hopefully force them to eventually make a mistake.
Unfortunately, my first unlucky victim was myself. I choked on the word "grotesque" even though when I made my mistake I realized it the second I made it. But there was no going back so my ultimate supposedly undefeatable strategy resulted in successfully defeating myself.
Moving on, February 24 of 2018 was the regional for the math counts in P.R. I wasn't part of the team mostly because I was sick when they were ranking the students. In other words, I didn't take the qualification test.
Though I still went to the regional I was only an alternate. After the results came out to the public I found out that I actually ranked fifth in my region. I had the second best ranking in our school after a math expert named Jessica. Jessica's brother won first place in the national math counts competition in the states when he was in seventh grade.
Hope I filled you up with enough info for at least the night because I'm going to post again tomorrow. If you like reading my posts, please follow my blog and email me by jerryjiaruichen@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
