Update on the music front

On the title, I just wanna say that I'm dividing my life on lots of fronts, so like music front, academic front, sport front, social front, and others too. Today I'm going to update my musical front, for those of you that didn't know, I play the piano and well, I've stopped my classes for about two years now and just been self-learning the pieces that I want to play rather than the ones my teacher picks. However, I think I've reached the limit on self-learning piano, there's not much I can do to improve without the help of a teacher so I have decided to start my classes once again. They start next Tuesday, hopefully, I can improve a lot faster than going solo. Right now I am focusing on this song that is the main theme of a movie, Castle in the Sky, also I'm trying out the Mii Channel theme song just for fun. lol

free day

yay. it is Saturday!! my free day

Today I don't have any classes and by the rules that we set in our family, don't need to do anything.

but ofc, we all know that's not gonna happen, so I took a python class, training these very wonderful snakes, idk why people are scared of such wonderful creatures... jk lol I meant the programming language, Python. wrote some lines of code and learned how to set a flag and other stuff like an accumulation.

I also played some tycoon game w/ Psi but we both didn't rly like it that much, we were just talking about it rn and we played it for an hour becuz we thought each other liked it when we both rly didn't but did not say it directly, so there's a lesson for the day. ROFL anyways I need to call him again, brb.

bicycle.

Today my parents decided to go out to do some remodeling of the tiles at our apartment, and also they said they'd buy me a bike on the way.

I'm like sure, wait... a BIKE?? so for those of you who don't know, I have not learned how to ride a bicycle so I think my mom wants to make me learn it over the summer but they could've at least told me in advance and we could've reached a mediation of some sort, but not that probably was never going to happen anyways, their say is always absolute and non-negotiable. So, my half-hour spent on watching negotiation techniques today wasn't going to help at all.

Also, stocks did pretty well today, I'm at 1.1 mil in gains and I had a starting net worth of 1 mil. Basically, I doubled my money and a bit more, but the president of the investment club is still above me in gains so I still have a lot to learn and improve on the investing front.

Oh right, we have an investment club and we use this website called MarketWatch where you can create games that are simulations but is exactly the same as the real stock exchange in real-time. And I'm ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the club, that's right, I made three accounts and I have them all at Top 5. However, the president is above me by a million and that's like half of my net worth so I'm gonna ask him some tips on how he made such a massive comeback (he was last for a very long time), but he IS the president for a reason I guess...

hobo to BILLIONAIRE

wow. what a title.

There is a very cool app in the App Store called Hobo Capitalist. You start out as a hobo begging for money on the streets, sometimes not enough to cover your expenses. But then you can slowly begin saving your money and start working on street jobs like a courier, busker, graffiti artist, etc... Later on, you can get even better jobs like a sales rep, researcher, but to do that you need to unlock lots of other stuff like a car, phone, you need to study for an exam, you need to get a degree for some jobs, and later on, you can buy real estate and pay it off using a mortgage, you can buy properties like distilleries and jewelry stores using business loans and then they make you money every day. The most important part is your life expectancy when your age reaches your life expectancy you need to start over the whole game. Psi came up with a BRILLIANT idea that got me to become a 25 billionaire, BUT it killed me in the end so now I need to restart the whole process from scratch. RIP

GODS

So today when my parents were out on a trip I got on discord and made a clan for a game that I'm quite good at, it's called ninja.io. Maybe you can check it out sometime. Anyways Psi, Rama, and I made a clan which we named GODS and at the moment we have like six members. I bet it's going to be even more famous than the best clan in the game right now, Delta. I was a part of it, actually, I still am I think. But, anyways, I'm trying to recruit more people but only pros so they can contribute to the clan. Oh, I also got my phone taken away yesterday so I couldn't talk properly to Psi and Rama. It'll get better tomorrow when I get it back.

free class?

Today is Tuesday so I'm technically not supposed to have a math session with my dad because those are on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. But... I did not look at the date today because well, I usually never look at the date except when in school and you are writing the date for a test, THOSE are important. That's coming from my own experience.

Anyways, I took a class with him without realizing and was kinda mad because I don't really want to take extra classes during the summer, duh, and also it's not like I don't take them, today is just not the day. My parents said that they also didn't know, I doubt it, but they said I should be grateful for a "free class" because usually one lesson 1 on 1 costs a lot of money.

wow. I mean they're not wrong but I didn't ask to take the class, I didn't want to take it today. I was looking forward to my day off and now it's become another working day. Maybe I'll comprehend in the future. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Signature? or Logo?

Today the dyad looked for the best signature for Psi, I had this amazing looking letter that was quite easy to write but he didn't like it for some reason. When my mom saw it, she said it looked more like a logo than a signature, and as much as I hate to admit it, she's kinda right. Since it looks cool it takes about five strokes to write it and signatures are supposed to be fast so no one can copy it. But, anyways Psi your welcome for making a custom logo for you. I think maybe my own signature can be altered a bit to make it more special, more uncopiable if that's a word. What do you think of it?

my camera is being dumb right now so it's kind of at an angle but that's basically it. comment down below what you think can be added~

OrGaNiZaTiOn

We all know how parents are these days. "Jerry!!! GO CLEAN UP YOUR ROOOOOOM!!"

~ anyways, not only is the organization within our homes important but it's also important to organize your time properly to get things done in an efficient manner.

so... Today I took the time to have a little chat with my parents about how I would manage my time over this summer break now that we ain't going nowhere for vaca. They signed me up for another AoPS class about Number Theory, also this online camp thing that starts in the afternoon but goes on until like 9:30 at night, oh and I also found some online courses to do with Psi, at the end we chose Photoshop editing and a writing one so we can hopefully boost our essay writing skills next year in ninth grade, the first year of high school.

I made a schedule and I filled out blanks of what I have scheduled every day. Like Python classes with mom four days a week from 2-3 and math classes, both online ones and also the ones my dad gives me. btw my parents are extra harsh and strict on me than teachers but I guess that's what all parents are like. Oh yeah, I'm also looking at some courses on Coursera. Right now I'm starting one on Negotiation Tactics because well, I think it'll be useful in business negotiations later on and just on a daily basis too. Maybe it'll help when I need to persuade someone to do some favor for me. muahahaha...

Update on today

Today, I had my final online class of math olympiad training. We did some proof on Fermat's point and also some more inscribed angle problems. Our Ukrainian teacher is pretty nice but he goes through some problems way too fast to understand them properly.

Anyhow, after that I just did Membean which is basically a website for you to learn new English vocabulary before our school English teacher used to have us do it for points but ever since quarantine she stopped giving it to us for a grade so Psi and I (the dyad, apparently it's another word for a duo, courtesy to google) started doing it every day for at least 15 min. However, today I decided to grind and I did 66 min, not in a row though because the maximum is 60 min.

Also, there are really interesting people that you find online, recently there are two people that are both very fluent in Chinese and we've been chatting a bit and things seem fine. However, it wasn't always like that, it started out as a prank. One where I was the victim, however being the amazing person that I am, I quickly saw through their wiles and schemes but decided to play along anyway to see how things would turn out. Although I did not expect them to admit their prank to me so soon, anyways after we worked things out we're sorta friends now I suppose.

This is just to show you guys that not everyone online is bad. Don't listen to the obsolete and fossilized parents that just don't orient to new surroundings, trust me it's online, as long as you don't give away any personal information there's nothing bad that can happen.

Cats for advertisement?

Today when on a walk with my parents, we walk around in the vicinity around like 6 or 7 neighborhoods and a supermarket and we saw this lady, feeding like seven cats all by herself. Recently, I've told my mom that she needs to socialize more so she started talking to this lady who's around her 50s or 60s. And at first, I thought, ok so maybe mom's just being nice since we've seen her a couple of times already but then they had like a seven-minute conversation and just when we were about to leave she calls us back to show us a sample of her product. Apparently, she owns a company for a cleaning product that's "green" and made of pure lemon juice because the acid from it can be used as a multipurpose cleaning solution. It sounded kinda sketch but she was wearing the uniform, had a business card, and even showed us the actual thing that looked pretty DIY to me but my mom believed it. She even gifted it to us and asked us to give her feedback when we see her again. I don't know about you but for all, I know that thing that's in the kitchen cabinet could be a bomb, maybe an IED? Perhaps I'm overreacting, but I'm still kinda worried...

You'll know if I'm still alive or not if I don't post within the next week.

Final Day of Middle School

Wow, and just like that it's over, my entire middle school period is over. Starting from now on, I am a HIGH-SCHOOLER!!

so, today after class ended our student council told us to gather in one Google Meet where we had a virtual graduation ceremony, now there wasn't any graduation walks or anything like that but the principal and head of school gave a little talk and we played a Kahoot that was very rigged since the students that made it were also playing. Also I really like this way of putting my name: •J£RR¥•

Looks cool doesn't it? With the Euro and RMB money signs I think it looks pretty awesome.

Anyways, the school managed to give us this little graduation ceremony online and it was pretty fun, in the end, our parents gave us a sweater with Class of 2024 on it and our names too. Turns out they knew about it all along...

Memories

Today was the final day of class for 3 more classes. Science, Geography, and Spanish. In Science, our teacher gave us a 4-page long lab assessment and I barely finished it on time. During Geography we were assigned a final opinion piece on questions about the three revolutions we studied about throughout the year. Finally, at Spanish the teacher read anecdotes from all of our classmates and had us guess who's was who's. My story was about the second round of the math Olympics and how I looked super cool when I walked in the test-taking room and finished the test with a perfect score faster than anyone else. It was very funny to watch the teacher's reaction when she read it.

Also, when class ended Psi and I got on a call and started flipping through all our old work from our youth. It's super funny when we read through old memories that we don't even recall writing because there are lots of embarrassing stuff that we didn't know about when we were still very young. Right now we are looking at a scary short story that we wrote a year ago in English class. His is called the "The Haunted Clown".

I AM EGEUS

Today, I presented my final project for English, our teacher called it a confessional where we are acting as one of the characters from a book, in our case, A Midsummer Night's Dream by the famous William Shakespeare. I chose the character Egeus, an overcontrolling father who attempts to force his daughter Hermia into marrying a man that he chose but not one that Hermia loves. The teacher said that if we managed to make her or other students in the class laugh during our presentation then we would gain bonus points on the overall grade. So, Psi and I spent a whole lot of time trying to come up with ways to get people to smile, I gave him some tips and ideas that he incorporated in his final presentation, it came out fabulous, to be honest, I thought the reaction would be a bit calmer than it was but good for him for accepting my amazing ideas. Mine wasn't too shabby either, I wasn't able to see their reactions but I'm pretty sure it turned out just fine.

Oh, I also just finished wiping down my entire piano so it looks super shiny right now, the light reflecting off it looks beautiful...

Last day of math class.

As you may have seen from the title, today was my final day of geometry. Our final project was also due today, we were asked to choose 5 scenarios from some game that could be played in the house using a standard deck of cards or a board game like Monopoly and find the possibility of it happening. I chose the ERS, it is a game that can be played with a deck of 52 cards and it's short for Egyptian Rat Slap. But, that's a topic for another day.

Today in Spanish the final project was to write an anecdote from some experience we had in the year 2019-2020. I chose the time where I went to Mayaguez along with Psi and Rama (another nickname for anonymity) and participated in OMPR. A Math Olympics competition that's been canceled this year because of the virus. So basically I just wrote about how I was super confident about my answers and how Rama was so surprised when I broke the agreement to stay until the end of the time which is three hours long. However, I handed in the test very early and he was convoluted (Membean word) and also surprised, along with like the 150 other test-takers because our bus arrived late by like half an hour and I still finished before them. Long story short, I finished the entire project in like 2 hours and it's due in like two days.

Also, tomorrow's my English presentation and it's based on Shakespeare.
Wish me luck!

Another day in the house

Today I participated in the online Mathcounts Countdown Round available to all mathletes from all across the globe. Although there were over 1000 people there, only a certain amount of people were selected to be seen on the leaderboard, so when I got almost every single one right, I was not even seen on the leaderboard once, I'm so sad...

Anyways, Psi and I were competing to see who could get seen the most, in the end, we tied with 4 sightings each.

Actually, now we're in a call, and he's freaking out because he found a moth in his room, and it's hilarious, constantly screaming while reporting back to me about the moth's coordinates. Oh, he lost it for a second and says to his dad, "Dad, it could be anywhere in the house now. Maybe you'll find it in one of your snacks." Wow, ok he finally killed it and threw it out. That was very intense hahaha.

What a day...

Well, today hasn't been all that fun, but it's a pretty relaxing day I'd say.

First up, we have the fan-favorite... French! But, it really isn't all that glamorous, today we learned some names for furniture like a shelf, closet, stairs, and stuff like that, oh and also how to conjugate the word venir. Right, I haven't told you yet but since French was my elective for 8th grade I'm planning on changing electives, they opened this economics course and I'm signing up for it, hopefully, I get in the class.

Next, we have English. To be honest, it really isn't that bad. The teacher had given us an essay planner for us to fill out throughout the weekend and today all we had to do was to write out the essay. You know, the good old copy paste and some correction on grammar and punctuation and we're good to go. So, yeah, I also wrote a full argument essay today, yay.

Finally, PE. Thinking about this still makes me tired. Good thing it's my last class today or otherwise, I wouldn't have the strength to go to another one. So, Mr. Melvin had us make our own HIIT workout routine. HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training just so you know. Each routine consists of a warm-up of 6 exercises, 3 series of 3 exercises each, meant to be repeated once, and a cooldown of also 6 exercises and stretches, mostly stretches. Then, we have meditation. No need to say more.

Remembrance

I missed out on writing my blog yesterday, so this is kinda a makeup one.
So yesterday I had four classes, Science, Maths, Geography, and Spanish in that order.

In science, the teacher gave us this worksheet with ten problems and the whole worksheet was worth 30 points, she explained the outline of it and we had basically the rest of the class to work on it. It was about microorganisms that dwell in the water.

Math was easy since the teacher was absent last week on some family emergency her work was on the webpage and my friends and I did it together, however afterwards the teacher sent all of us a message telling us that we will be redoing everything we did the day she was absent. So, math was just a recap and I had already done the homework so, great.

Then we have the most boring class, Geography, basically, the teacher is having us read the book, "The Romanov Family", it's about the ruling family of Russia and how they fell and were pushed out of the citizens and working class with the support of the army. The teacher divided the class into groups of 2 and 3 and assigned every group 2 chapters. I had already done my presentation last class so now I only had to take notes from other's powerpoints and I didn't have to talk, the notes were long though, I should file a complaint, I was writing by hand and others were typing and they didn't even listen to the speaker, all they were doing were copying the notes without truly knowing what the context was about. So I missed notes on almost every slide because the presenters skipped slides way too fast.

Lastly, we have Spanish. In this class we were assigned into groups of 2&3 once again and we were given a topic about the coronavirus in Puerto Rico. There was entertainment, economy, health, environment, and education, in that order, and since 3 is my lucky number, my group got health. All thanks to me, the topic with the most information to write about. So last weekend I already practically wrote the entire essay so this time as the teacher went over our word document fixing and improving some of my work, I was busy writing the conclusion paragraph. After I finished that and had my partner revise it, it was almost time for class to end. Oh, and we also had our not so reliable partner pick some photos and out of those I picked three best ones that can really add to our essay.

And that's about it. Thank you for tuning in on my Ted Talk. We'll see you all later, after the spectacular advertisement of the cable company that you already have...

A new beginning,

Now we are back, after two years, and well, in quarantine. Today, is a special day, its Mother's Day. My mom has constantly been supporting me ever since, well, ever since the world first brought its sights on me, the blinding light piercing my dark-adjusted eyes. Actually, I have no idea what I saw that day, because, you know, my memory really only started around 5 years of age. But, that's beside the point.

Recently, I've grown quite close with a couple of friends, one in particular, he will be referred to as "Psi" to keep anonymity, since I know there are millions out there reading this. So, anyways, while in quarantine, Psi is basically my go-to person to talk to when I'm feeling down, or when I'm happy for some reason that may seem frivolous to others. The fact that I'm talking to Psi so much seems to be upsetting my mom for some reason, she thinks I'm spending way too much time with Psi and not enough on the good old fashioned practice. "Practice makes perfect," she says, actually hold up, I think my dad says that way more.

The point is, I want her to know that no matter how much time I spend with Psi, it can't change the fact that she is still my mother and that no one can ever even get close to taking that role away from her. I love her with all of my heart, although sometimes she does make me really really impatient and sometimes angry as well I always keep it in, well, mostly always. However, the point is, you are the best mom anyone could ever wish for and I love you.

You did give me the challenge to post something every day so this is the new beginning.

step 1 As I have slowly settled into a somewhat steady rhythm here on MIT’s campus, I still often get asked by upperclassmen and family back...
